Aunt Molly's Family

August 21st, 2003: I went back to bed after I got up at 5:00 to get Doug's breakfast and fix his lunch to take to work. I read the comic section while he ate, so he could take it with him to work, as he would read it when he ate lunch.

I went back to bed, but my brain wouldn't let me sleep. Thoughts of my childhood kept me awake, so I got up and went downstairs to have breakfast, and to write more about my childhood. I was thinking about my childhood and the people in it.

Uncle Clarence Jones
My Uncle Clarence Jones and Aunt Molly (Mary Parks) lived 2 blocks around the corner from where we lived. I would go down there and play with my cousins. Aunt Molly would let them come out and play with me. Sometimes she would let us have homemade bread and butter to eat. The oldest was Ruth, then Imogene, then Blanchard (a boy), and Inamae, the youngest. Aunt Molly was special to me. Later, when I grew up and moved away, I always made a point to go see her when I went "down home".

Uncle Clarence and Aunt Molly moved out to a farm south of Marion. Mama Jonie would get in her Ford car and drive out to see them. Papa Jonie and I would go with her. Papa Jonie never learned to drive. I always enjoyed going out to their farm to see my cousins. We had a good time.

Then Aunt Molly had a baby girl. We went to see them and to help with the baby Lulafae. Mama Jonie decided that I should stay and help Aunt Molly and take care of the house and the other kids. I was old enough to know what to do. She came back a week later to get me and see if everything was all right.

Later, Aunt Molly had a baby boy, but he was stillborn. She went to the Dr. and told him that she still felt movement. The Dr. said it couldn't be, but he examined her, and sure enough, there was another baby. She had another boy. They named him Jack, but I always called him Jackie. [He's now a Country Gospel Singer.]

[Uncle Clarence's family and then some. On the back it says "Ruth Jones (now Rendleman), Aunt Molly Jones, Imagene (Hudgens), Mama Jones & John Dufour (her second husband), Blanchard Jones center on ground." We don't know who the others are, but can guess Jack Jones, Inamae Robertson, and Lulafae Midgett and their families. Uncle Clarence probably took the picture.
