Jane Love
1915 - 2007

Jane was Doug Love's mother. She had a great attitude, lots of art projects and civic activities, a fine garden, and a good diet. She was a retired cosmetologist and artist specializing in watercolor landscapes, gilded still lifes and tole painting on found objects, all of which are online. She was also a clown, actor, playwright and poet, as described in her memoirs.

Art Projects

One of Jane Love's best works is the large mural of Christ and today's children, shown below. Hung permanently at the Atholton Adventist School, it was based on a 1950s print that showed all Caucasians. When the print disintegrated in 1989, Jane vowed to replace it with an oil painting. Doug bought her a 3' x 8' board, and she spent the summer painting.

a nice picture of Jane Love from the 80s.

It was dedicated at a special Fall Festival of Gifts, and hung soon after. Many of the school's children see themselves in this picture. Their art is hung around it during the school year.

Jane Love's Civic Activities

Jane died June 8, 2007 at the Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park. She had spent 2 painful years in nursing homes. She donated her body to the University of Maryland School of Medicine. According to the teachings of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, she is resting in Jesus, awaiting the resurrection of the saved.
